Persimmon Homes has won planning permission for 95 homes on a brownfield site in Chippenham.
The Oak Hill Rise development on the site of the former Wiltshire ambulance station was approved by Wiltshire Council.
The zero-carbon ready scheme was supported by the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust who decommissioned and mothballed the site after a relocation of staff to a newer building at Bath Road industrial estate.
Once the site acquisition is complete, Persimmon expects to start work this year with completion next year.
All homes in the new scheme will be powered by air source heat pumps, solar panels and have electric vehicle charging points. Of the 95 homes, 26 will be affordable.
There will be public green space, on-site biodiversity enhancement measures such as bird and bat boxes, a new pedestrian and cycle connection, and over £1 million of upgrading to local services and facilities including schools, sports pitches and children’s play areas.
