A second attempt to redevelop an industrial park in Woking goes before councillors on February 22, with a recommendation for approval.Â
Woking Borough Council Property Services’ initial plans to demolish 1960s-built Goldsworth Road Industrial Estate, a 1.5-acre park close to the town centre, and replace it with 12 modern units, was rejected by the council last September because the mix of units lacked the flexibility to re-accommodate the several motor repair operators on the site.
Now the new plan has a revised mix of use classes including Class E(g) (commercial and business service), B2 (general industry) and B8 (storage and distribution).
The total floorspace will increase from 2,546 sq m to 2,755 sq m.
The current industrial park has been deemed too expensive to update to meet modern energy efficiency standards.
