Revised plans for a 68-unit care home on the site of the former Travis Perkins site at Woodley have been recommended for approval.

Wokingham Borough Council’s planning committee will consider the proposals by Boutique Care Homes (under the name Propco Woodley Green) to develop the vacant site in Woodley Green at its April 10 meeting.

A similar scheme for a care home of 70 units on the 0.36-hectares, close to the Bull & Chequers pub, was refused in November 2023.

Now the developer has sought to address the reasons for refusal for that scheme which was deemed to have excessive overall size, height, bulk, scale and was too close to neighbouring homes.

The resubmitted scheme is expected to create around 60 full time jobs.

The team on the latest project includes Mission Town Planning, RM Design on architecture and Churchgate Services on transport.
