Taylor Wimpey hopes to start work in Spring on 544 new homes in the Gomm Valley at High Wycombe.

Councillors on Buckinghamshire Council’s strategic sites committee voted to approve the house builder’s hybrid application, granting full permission for 79 homes and outline consent for the remaining 465 (including four custom-build plots) at its December 18 meeting.

The homes include a 48 per cent proportion of affordable units.

The proposals also include land for a new primary school, community building, employment land and extensive landscape and ecological enhancements.

Robin Pearmain, head of planning for Taylor Wimpey West London, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have secured this important resolution to grant planning permission for our sustainable, landscape-led residential scheme for Gomm Valley.

“The proposals will help Buckinghamshire secure 544 much needed new homes, 48 per cent of which will be affordable, creating real opportunities for local people and bringing forward a range of significant benefits for the wider area.

“We now look forward to continuing our work with Buckinghamshire Council to move the scheme into delivery, with a view to starting construction on the first phase in Spring 2026.”

The first of the new homes is due to be completed in Autumn 2027 with completion of the final units between 2033 and 2036.

The application included a revised transport strategy to address the failure of a previous application at appeal.
