Last week, a ‘topping out’ event to celebrate the completion of the highest point of construction took place at Mill Yard, the 180,000 sq ft Railpen/Socius development in Cambridge.
Mill Yard is due to be completed in early 2027. It comprises three office buildings offering 110,000 sq ft of workplaces, as well as 70 built-to-rent apartments spread across two residential buildings. A café or bakery, publicly accessible car park and a nursery are additional features of the scheme.
Maria Averkina, asset and development manager at Railpen, said: “By this time next year, businesses and residents will be benefiting from Cambridge’s most conveniently located, sustainable, future-ready work and living space. Railpen is committed to creating places that genuinely benefit our surrounding communities and help support Cambridge’s ambitions for significant growth.
“Mill Yard will be a cornerstone development in recognising these ambitions and it is really exciting to be entering into the final stages of construction for the neighbourhood.”
The development is being delivered by Railpen, its development partner, Socius, and lead contractor, Morgan Sindall Construction. Mill Yard will be the first of Railpen’s developments to reach completion from its 1.9m sq ft Innovation Cluster. The cluster will also include Botanic Place; Railpen’s 325,000 sq ft development which is due for completion in early 2028.
Bidwells, Cushman & Wakefield and Knight Frank are office agents for Mill Yard. Details of the residential apartments will be available soon.
