Persimmon Homes Essex is celebrating two successful land purchases in the same week as well as the introduction of ground source heating.

The firm acquired a site off Broad Street Green Road in Heybridge, Maldon for 281 homes, after gaining planning consent on appeal last year.

Willow’s Reach, as it will be known, will bring a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes for private sale. The site will also deliver 140 homes in partnership with a housing association offering shared ownership and homes for rent.

The scheme will see the Persimmon introduce ground source heating for the first time, utilising renewable heat from the ground providing major carbon reduction and very high energy efficiency.

Richard Hush, managing director for Persimmon Homes Essex, said: “This new technology can significantly lower energy bills for future customers and which is critically important in the current climate.”

Work has now started on site with the first homeowners expected to move in before Christmas this year. Sales have been launched from the Scarlett Mews development in neighbouring Tiptree.

The second land purchase concerns a site south of Aveley, in Thurrock. It has outline permission for 80 units and the team are now preparing a reserved matters application to submit in the coming weeks. Work is expect to start on site in 2027.

Richard said of the Thurrock site: “We have previously completed developments in Aveley, including the redevelopment of Aveley FC. We therefore have exceptional knowledge of the town and local area and fully expect our latest scheme to be very popular.”

“This is a sign of our ambitious growth plans in Essex as we help to meet the ever-increasing needs of first-time buyers, families and those in housing need locally.”
