On behalf of Gleeson Land and its landowners, Nexus Planning has secured planning permission for a strategic residential development of up to 1,400 new homes at South West Aylesbury, following the unanimous resolution of the Council’s Planning Committee to approve it.

Proposal details

The proposals will deliver new homes, the South West Link Road- which is a key component of the Aylesbury Transport Plan- approximately 50 hectares of green infrastructure, a new primary school and a community building. The drainage strategy will also reduce flood risk for existing residents close to the site.

Nexus led the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) coordination, planning and project management of this application. This included extensive engagement with the Local Planning Authority and – due to the site’s proximity to the HS2 rail line – lengthy negotiations with the HS2 team to ensure an appropriate and efficient interface between the projects.

Nexus Planning’s in-house team of demographic, economic and GIS specialists, Nexus Analytics & Research, produced a Socio Economic and Human Health Environmental Statement Chapter to support the application.

Comments

Adam Ross, executive director, Nexus Planning said: “I am really pleased to have been part of the team that has secured planning permission for this significant scheme at Aylesbury.

“Schemes of this scale and nature are inherently complex, particularly given the evolving position on infrastructure delivery and the site’s relationship with the adjacent HS2 project.

“Joint working with the relevant stakeholders has ultimately resulted in a planning permission at the local level, and we are proud to have been part of an excellent and committed landowner, developer and consultant team.”

Hywel James, director, Nexus Planning, said: “Securing permission for a development of this scale is a significant milestone.

“This scheme brings together new homes, critical infrastructure and high-quality green space in a coordinated way, which is exactly what is needed to support sustainable growth.

“It has been a highly collaborative process, and the outcome reflects the commitment of all parties to delivering a well-planned and deliverable scheme.”
