A full planning application for the erection of 126 dwellings on Longlands Farm, Badgeworth, has been approved for a delegated permit at yesterday’s Tewkesbury Borough Council planning committee meeting.

The proposal was originally referred to the committee due to its size of more than 50 residential units.

Councillor Mel Gore stated that there was a feeling of unhappiness about the development but: “There aren’t any sound reasons to refuse this”, then going on to say: “I’m going to recommend that we do delegate a permit”.

Cllr Gore conclude by requesting: “Gloucestershire County Council do work with the current facilities on that public right of way to make sure that they’re sticking to the agreements that they made”, an example cited was keeping speeds down on the nearby roads

Councillor Ian Yates made similar statements, he said: “There is no way I feel we would defend an appeal…reluctantly I will support this”

Councillor Mary Jordan spoke on sustainability, saying: “We have to look, not only at the immediate area…but at the whole area, as far as sustainability is concerned”
