Temporary traffic management will be in place on the A350 Western Way and Semington Road, Melksham, for more than six weeks from later this month, while an electric connection is installed for a new housing development.
The works – which are being completed by AIM Utilities on behalf of Living Space Housing – are scheduled to take place between 10 August and 22 September.
The project will involve excavation works in the footway, verge and carriageway on sections of the A350 Western Way and Semington Road to enable the new electricity connection to be installed.
The work will be carried out in two phases:
- A350 Western Way: 10 August to 29 August, between 8pm and 6am, under a lane closure and temporary 30mph speed restriction.
- Semington Road: 1 September to 22 September, under a 24-hour clockwise gyratory system.
Residents are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys, as delays are possible while the traffic management measures are in place.

Cllr Martin Smith, Cabinet Member for Highways, said “Although Wiltshire Council is not carrying out these works, we have worked closely with the developer and utility company to help ensure the necessary traffic management is in place so that they can be carried out safely.
“We appreciate that the lane closures and gyratory system may cause some delays, but this work is needed to support the delivery of new homes in Melksham. I’d like to thank residents and people driving through the area for their patience and understanding while the work takes place.”
