West Sussex County Council has endorsed refreshed Growth Deals that will guide investment across the county through to 2030, focusing on high streets, green spaces, transport links and community facilities.
Cllr Yvonne Gravely signed the updated agreements, reinforcing the council’s commitment to sustainable economic growth and partnership working.
The seven refreshed Deals cover Adur, Arun, Chichester, Crawley, Horsham, Mid Sussex and Worthing. They align with current local plans, economic priorities and development opportunities, with a stronger focus on improving the quality of places where people live, work and visit.
Planned schemes include improvements to Chichester’s North and East Street, the Worthing Public Realm Improvements programme, redevelopment of the Martlets shopping centre in Burgess Hill, upgrades at Horsham’s Bishopric, and the One Public Estate programme to make better use of public assets.
The Deals also place greater emphasis on biodiversity and greener spaces. Projects include the £3.1 million Montague Gardens scheme in Worthing, new pocket parks in Lancing and further investment in Manor Royal Park Links. Other priorities include flood defences in Shoreham town centre and support for net zero ambitions through heat networks in Crawley and Worthing, plus rooftop solar across Manor Royal.
Sustainable transport remains central, with investment in walking, cycling, bus and rail improvements, including the Place and Connectivity Programme in Burgess Hill and new bus lanes in Crawley. The Deals also support community facilities such as sports provision in Adur, the Alexandra Theatre in Bognor Regis, and the future of Worthing Pier and the Lido.
