Hounslow Council has welcomed 13 renowned professionals from the built environment sector as new members of the Hounslow Design Review Panel (HDRP).

Many new panel members in this diverse group have personal and professional connections to Hounslow, broadening and strengthening the panel’s connection to Hounslow’s local communities.

HDRP is an independent group that supports the Council by offering expert, impartial design advice on major development proposals, regeneration programmes and design policies.

With members from various disciplines such as architecture, town planning, urban design, landscape, and sustainability, the HDRP is committed to upholding the highest design standards across the borough. As Hounslow’s development continues to surge, the panel plays a pivotal role in promoting good design practices.

The HDRP meets every month. Members scrutinise a selection of planning applications, examining aspects such as the scale of the development, the site, and any local issues surrounding it.

New panel member Svinder Singh of Singh, Fudge Architects, said: “As a former Hounslow resident with much of my extended family still living in the borough, I feel a deep sense of pride and responsibility in contributing to its future growth. Being part of this panel is a valuable opportunity to help shape a community that celebrates its rich heritage while embracing its dynamic and evolving future.”

The Panel will work to improve outcomes for the people and communities, developers, design teams, planning officers, and the Council’s Planning Committee.

Hounslow Council’s deputy leader and cabinet member for assets, regeneration and development, Cllr Tom Bruce, said:

“The Design Review Panel is crucial to ensuring that new developments in Hounslow are of the highest design quality, contributing to a better environment for everyone who lives, works, and visits the borough. We welcome the new members joining the panel and are confident that their expertise will help raise the bar and set new standards for design excellence in Hounslow’s built environment. I look forward to seeing the positive impact their input will have on our community.”
