A new state-of-the-art health centre is set to open in early 2026 in the Thessaly Road area of Battersea, enhancing healthcare services for local residents.

This initiative is a collaboration between Wandsworth Council and the local NHS, funded by developer contributions, to improve community facilities. The modern facility will replace the existing Thessaly Road branch of Battersea Fields Practice, located just three minutes away. It will feature 14 consulting rooms, five treatment rooms, and spaces for interviews and group activities.

The centre will offer GP-led healthcare with extended hours and a range of services, including nursing, physiotherapy, mental health support, children’s clinics, health checks, blood tests, and minor surgeries. Graeme Henderson, Cabinet Member for Health at Wandsworth Council, emphasised the centre’s role in addressing health inequalities and supporting community development without increasing Council Tax.

Mark Creelman from NHS South-West London highlighted the innovative care provided by Battersea Fields Practice, including the ‘Brazil to Battersea’ model, and expressed optimism about the new facility’s potential. Lead GP Sara Morgenstern expressed excitement about the move, noting the improved environment for patient care.

The transition to the new centre will be seamless for patients, with the existing premises remaining open until the transfer is complete. The primary practice on Austin Road will also stay operational to ensure continuity of care. The project is a joint effort involving NHS South-West London Integrated Care Board, NHS Property Services, and Battersea Fields Practice, aiming to create a modern community health hub.
