A new Aldi in Winnersh could bring new life to a tiny retail park.

The supermarket has submitted plans to Wokingham Borough Council for a store in Gazelle Close off Reading Road.

Currently the only stores on the retail park are Halfords, Wickes and Pets at Home. Aldi’s proposed store of 10,124 sq m, which will have 124 parking spaces, is on a one-hectare site next to Winnersh Fields Business Park.

The proposal was planned by Bristol-based Planning Potential.

Comments received via the WBC planning portal so far show around two thirds of people are in favour. Aldi expects it to create between 30 and 50 jobs.
