Hammersmith beauty giant L’Oréal is moving north to the thriving White City Innovation District.

The multinational is set to relocate its 1,200-strong UK corporate headquarters from Hammersmith Broadway into Gateway Central – a brand-new building at White City Place. It will feature an academy to train 10,000 people every year.

H&F leader Cllr Stephen Cowan said: “The White City Innovation District continues to go from strength to strength. It demonstrates that our pioneering Industrial Strategy is working to help create this major global economic and cultural hotspot.

“By attracting industry leaders like L’Oréal we’re continuing to create opportunities for local people as part of our efforts to make H&F the best place to live, work and socialise.”

As a leader in sustainable beauty and beauty technology, L’Oréal is set to join White City’s rapidly growing business and innovation district next autumn.

Spanning life sciences, creative and technology businesses with a strategic focus on sustainability, the area is already home to some of the world’s most innovative organisations including Novartis, Airbus, ITV and The Royal College of Art

Gateway Central is located only a stone’s throw away from the former BBC Television Centre. Its sustainable ‘passive’ design takes advantage of the local climate, meaning that it can utilise solar power and cool night air to minimise the use of active heating and cooling.

As a result, it will take 52 per cent less energy to cool than a comparable building, thanks to 1,900 square feet of photovoltaic solar panels, set to supply eight per cent of the building’s energy.

Gateway Central is set to be completed later this year. The top five floors of the 10-storey building have been let to L’Oréal.

And there’s still more than 155,000 square feet of modern office space available to rent by companies looking to work alongside the beauty giant, as well as the world-class researchers at Imperial College London.
