Bridge Park plans agreed by Brent Council

Brent Council has approved a phased plan for regenerating Bridge Park and the vacant Unisys buildings, marking a major step toward a new leisure and community quarter on the edge of the North Circular.

Phase 1 will deliver a new state-of-the-art leisure centre, including a 25-metre swimming pool, a learner pool, a sports hall, a gym, and a soft play area. The council says the project will make swimming and physical activity more accessible, with the share of low-income residents able to walk to a pool expected to rise from 12 per cent to 80 per cent.

Phase 2 will include Adult Education and Community Building, with proposals to be further shaped by a new Community Engagement Group. The wider masterplan, developed with Stonebridge Real Estate Development, includes more than 1,000 homes, along with shops, restaurants and public squares.

A key feature of the scheme will be a Bridge Park Legacy Garden, designed with residents and community representatives to honour the site’s importance in Black British community history and achievement.

Cllr Matt Kelcher said the development would turn long-empty buildings into homes, jobs and modern facilities, while protecting Bridge Park’s legacy at the heart of the project. He added that the council wants to work closely with residents to create a neighbourhood that Stonebridge can be proud of.

If planning is approved, construction of the new leisure centre is expected to begin in 2028. The wider scheme is due to be submitted for planning in autumn 2026.
