Brighton & Hove marked the launch of Phase 2 of its Young Futures Hub in Moulsecoomb at an event held on Wednesday 16 September in the hub’s temporary youth centre beside Moulsecoomb Community Leisure Centre.
The gathering brought together local professionals, partner organisations, stakeholders, and young people to celebrate progress on the project and learn more about delivering Young Futures Hubs and Local Youth Transformation Programmes.
The event featured a marketplace of local services and support, a performance by AudioActive, and opportunities to view the centre’s games and art rooms. It highlighted the collaborative approach behind the hub’s development and the range of organisations involved in supporting children and young people across the city.
Brighton & Hove City Council became an early adopter of the government’s Young Futures Hub initiative in 2025. Led by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the programme aims to create a national network of inclusive, youth-led spaces for 10 to 18-year-olds, including young people with special educational needs and disabilities up to age 25.
The hubs are designed to improve access to opportunities, strengthen mental health and wellbeing, and help reduce youth crime by bringing services together locally.
Councillor Emma Daniel described the launch as a valuable chance to celebrate the work behind the Moulsecoomb hub, thank those involved, and recognise the investment being made in young people and the wider community. She said the experience showed the value of partnership, collaboration and co-production, and expressed excitement for the project’s final phase.
The hub uses a “Hub and Spokes” model, linking the main site with organisations including Brighton Youth Centre, The Weller Centre, Impact Initiatives, Tarner and Jubilee Library. In phase three, the hub will move into a permanent home within a new youth centre and skatepark, alongside a community hub and housing development.
