A proposal for the refurbishment of Market Square, Peas Hill, and Guildhall Street in Cambridge, will be heard at tomorrow’s Cambridge City Council planning committee meeting.
The proposal, brought forward by Cambridge City Council, with Carter Jonas acting as agent, was previously deferred at an earlier committee meeting in March, after complaints from stallholders regarding potential financial pressure, the loss of cycle spaces, and road safety issues.
At tomorrows meeting the proposal will come forward with updated information to address these concerns, including amended drawings, BNG plans, and design and access statements, amongst others.
Proposed plans
The intention of the proposal is to refurbish the aforementioned areas through provision of cycle parking, the erection of temporary market stalls, refurbishment of Grade II listed elements, works upon the listed fountains stonework, and additional landscaping.
Officer recommendation
The officer recommendation is for approval, subject to planning conditions.
