A new land promotion and residential development consultancy has been established in the Thames Valley by former Millgate Land planning director Andrew Omand (pictured).
Chiltern Land Ltd has been formed to meet the growing market need to unlock brownfield development opportunities and deliver consented sites to the market, suitable for regional housebuilders.
Mr Omand, a chartered surveyor from Reading, said: “It can be difficult for landowners to know where to start when they want to achieve the full potential of their land. Obtaining a permission is one thing, but there are a number of commercial, design, planning and market factors that need to be balanced before a permission is deemed attractive for a housebuilder.”
Mr Omand has a background in Plc housebuilding including roles at Barratt, Crest Nicholson as well as Millgate Homes.
He went on: “I saw a growing need for greater input in the early stages of deciding what to do with a piece of land.
“Optimising a site is not a case of cramming as much square footage on as possible or aiming at a higher price point to achieve a premium.
“You need a balanced and considered approach that blends a wide range of inputs, from choosing the right design approach, reviewing the legal title issues, or understanding the local housing market. Coordinating all these aspects from the outset ensures any potential issues can be spotted early on in the process.”
The Reading-based firm covers the south east and specialises in achieving short term planning permissions on brownfield land or sites within settlement boundaries. Various consultancy services are also on offer for both landowners and developers.
