Following a decision to approve in September 2022, Ealing Council have granted planning permission (May 2023) for the Castle Co-Living Tower in North Acton, part of the OPDC.

The proposal is for the following:

The demolition of the existing public house and the site’s redevelopment to provide a part 32-storey, part 27-storey tower comprising 462 co-living rooms. This includes associated communal amenity spaces, a public house and associated access, cycle parking, blue badge parking, bin storage and landscaping.

A split facade approach will create the appearance of two towers, one rising to 27 storeys and the other segment featuring an off-white cladding solution rising to 32 storeys, with both sharing the same core.

The scheme will feature over 16,000 sq ft of communal spaces across four floors and a new home for The Castle public house at the foot of the tower.

The tower will feature lounge areas, private dining and co-working spaces, a library, a bespoke gym, cinema and games rooms, cycle parking spaces and a cycle hiring scheme available for residents.

Tide Construction are the developer, and this follows approval for another co-living space, the Enclave in Croydon. HTR Design LLP worked on the planning and design with Vision.

Tide Construction specialises in volumetric construction, enabling the developer to reduce the construction time by 18 months.
