The affordable housing target set for Broadland District Council for the last financial year has been dwarfed by the numbers achieved.
The annual target, set out in the Greater Norwich Local Housing Needs Assessment 202, required the council to ensure 95 affordable homes were delivered in 2024/25.
Now the council has reported that the total delivered was 289.
Cllr Dan Roper, portfolio holder for planning, said: “We’re incredibly proud of what’s been achieved this year.
“Delivering nearly 300 affordable homes means more local people can stay close to their families, their jobs, and the communities they love.
“This achievement reflects the power of strong partnerships and a shared vision for a Broadland where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”
Many of the homes delivered were shared ownership units were additional Homes England-funded outside of any s106 agreements.
The council said its success reflects the strength of partnerships with housebuilders and registered providers, such as Orbit Homes in Rackheath and Spixworth/Old Catton, which increasingly are delivering the homes directly.
