Outline plans have been submitted for a huge data centre on a site which already has consent for Wycombe Film Studios.

Councillors voted to approve the film studios plan in March 2023 but the company behind it, Stage 50, went into administration in April 2024.

Now Wycombe Park Ltd, backed by Scio Capital, has submitted plans to develop the 13.08 hectares of land at South Corner, Wycombe Air Park, Clay Lane in Booker for a data centre of more than 50,000 sq m to Buckinghamshire council.

Its planning statement says the film studios application is still progressing and S106 negotiations are ongoing. One temporary sound stage has already been built.

But in the new application’s design and access statement, architect LEAD Studio states: “The site is allocated as a strategic employment zone and an application to construct a film studio has been submitted previously.

“Due to substantial market demand our client has decided to submit this additional application for data centre use, with the brief of creating potential for an optimised, open, campus style development.”

Options in the application shows a six-building data centre (pictured), totalling 54,000 sq m or a three-building scheme totalling 57,000 sq m.

As well as LEAD Studio, the team on the new project includes Nexus on planning and SLR on transport planning.
