Andy Byford , the commissioner of Transport for London, has announced the opening of the eastern section of Crossrail on May 24 2022.

The section from Paddington to Abbeywood will be opened one week before the Queens Platinum Jubilee. The line will be called the Elizabeth Line.
The western section is anticipated to open in the Autumn 2022.
