Ealing Council have approved the proposal for a 15-storey tower on Gunnersbury Lane near Acton Town tube station.

The proposal submitted by the Women’s Pioneer Housing Association is for the following:

The demolition of existing buildings and redevelopment of the site to provide up to 102 dwellings in a building of up to 15 storeys with associated landscaping and car and cycle parking.

The building will increase the number of socially rentable homes from 39 to 102, all one-bedroom accommodations. The charity provides specialist housing in an area underserved in London with long waiting lists.

Replacing the existing properties is expected to achieve many benefits for the resident in the building and locally.

The area surrounding the station was viewed by councillors as “in need of a good development” and is expected to enhance Gunnersbury Lane’s neighbourhood. The councillors agreed the development would be of high quality and would have improved accessibility.

One Councillor objected that whilst it is a “noble cause,” the proposal breached the Local Plan and The London Plan.
