Enforcement action has begun by Reading Borough Council over a small patch of land in Caversham.

Land Registry documents confirm the land of just under 10,000 sq ft, at the western junction of George Street and Gosbrook Road, was sold to a firm called Danala Services of Hilltop Road, Caversham in July 2022 for £337,500. It had gone to auction with Strettons in May.

Hoarding began to appear early this year but then stopped being erected. Reading Borough Council has confirmed to Thames Tap a planning enforcement case for unauthorised fencing has been opened and the team is in contact with the site owner with a view to resolving the issue.

Danala Services was given permission last year to remove some of the trees on the site, which border Christchurch Meadows and had preservation orders.

Thames Tap has made contact with Danala Services but the firm declined to comment on its plans for the land or the situation over enforcement.
