A £20 million bid has been submitted for levelling up funds to help regenerate Farnborough town centre.

Rushmoor Borough Council (RBC) has applied to the Government for the second round of the Levelling Up Fund in support of the town’s proposed Civic Quarter proposals for a new library with cultural and arts facilities alongside a new swimming pool and leisure centre.

The scheme also includes 1,00 energy efficient homes, new council offices, a hotel and shops, a park and a skatepark.

In a statement the council said: “As part of the bid, we have outlined our vision for Farnborough town centre and our desire to support the health and wellbeing of our residents with access to top quality leisure facilities, community facilities and educational opportunities.”

RBC expects to know whether it has been successful in the Autumn.
