Carter Jonas has secured planning permission on behalf of Barratt and David Wilson Homes (Eastern Counties) for the delivery of 410 homes.

The scheme, Darwin Green 1, will have a 40 per cent affordable allocation, forming part of the larger Darwin Green scheme in North West Cambridge.

The reserved matters consent is for a nine-hectare land parcel in the wider development site, which will have up to 1593 homes, a primary school, community facilities, shops and associated infrastructure, as well as well-connected pedestrian routes and open spaces.

James Stone, associate partner at Carter Jonas, Cambridge said “Carter Jonas was pleased to help achieve planning success for this high-quality new development which is sensitively designed to incorporate sustainable technologies. It will provide much-needed housing for Cambridge, with almost half of all units being affordable housing.”

Simon Wood, managing director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes (Eastern Counties), said “We are delighted to have received unanimous support from the Committee members and in particular the praise from the Chair commending us on taking a proactive approach to engagement and to future-proofing the development.  Carter Jonas’ planning input greatly assisted in us achieving this positive outcome”.

Carter Jonas will continue to be involved in the planning process having achieved consent and worked alongside Tate Hindle (architects), CSA Environmental (landscape architects) and Woods Hardwick (highways and infrastructure advice).

Work is due to begin on-site in the next few months and to be fully complete by 2030.
