Residents and businesses are being invited to share their views on Hillingdon Council’s draft Uxbridge Vision, which sets out plans to revitalise the town centre and help address the area’s changing needs.
The draft vision, created in collaboration with the local community, outlines a range of short and long-term projects, plans to attract private sector investment, diversify the shopping and leisure offer, and guide future developments to meet the needs of those who live, work and do business in Uxbridge, alongside the Local Plan to ensure the high street and surrounding area continues to thrive. Â
The vision has four key themes:Â Â
- Public realm improvement – creating new spaces to encourage visitors and support businessesÂ
- New activities – pop-up shops, collaborative workspaces and exhibitions that bring new organisations to the town centreÂ
- Better links – improving connections to the surrounding areasÂ
- More town centre living – more opportunities to live in the town centre by providing a mix of high-quality housing options.
Cllr Steve Tuckwell, Hillingdon Council’s Cabinet Member for Planning, Housing and Growth, said: “We want to make Uxbridge an even better place to live, work, study, and do business and ensure it continues to succeed long into the future. We’ve already seen a recent influx of new businesses to the high street, and the vision aims to continue this and further help our local economy thrive. Â
“The draft Uxbridge Town Centre Vision has been developed with the community and businesses to address the issues and needs of local people, and I encourage residents and businesses to tell us what they think. The feedback will inform our approach to delivering improvements and applications for funding.”Â
The consultation is open until Friday, 28 February. The final draft will then be considered by the council’s Cabinet next year. Â
