Hounslow planning approves demolishing garages and replacing with homes for three separate locations on March 3rd 2022.

Policy H2 of the London Plan states boroughs should pro-actively support well-designed new homes on small sites (below 0.25 hectares in size) to significantly increase the contribution of small sites to meeting London’s housing needs.

The first approval was for three wheelchair-friendly bungalows and three terraced houses opposite Brentside Close, Syon.

The Brentside dwellings would achieve zero-carbon energy usage and 100% affordable rent housing at London affordable rent levels to the Lifetime Homes standard, including three wheelchair friendly properties.

Whilst there were some strong objections regarding legal rights of way, the chair of the committee, Cllr Corinna Smart, stated, “we can only look at the plan that is in front of us.

Cllr Smart clarified, “legal rights of way are not covered by planning.”

The second approval was for 12 flats at Swan Court in Isleworth, unanimously approved.

The final approval was for nine houses to replace the garages at Becketts close in Feltham.

The approvals will result in the demolition of 84 garages to be replaced by 27 new homes.
