Hounslow Council is spearheading a transformative regeneration and growth initiative in the UK, emphasising opportunity, inclusive growth, and improved life chances for residents.
This ambitious program, highlighted by the Future Feltham Investment Framework, aims to deliver substantial changes across the borough, particularly in Feltham, which is strategically linked to Heathrow. The Future Feltham initiative is set to deliver up to 3,000 homes and over 9,000 high-quality jobs, with a focus on enhanced connectivity.
A key component of this plan is the development of a new neighbourhood on the Ministry of Defence (MoD) site. This site will be transformed into London’s first green, intergenerational neighbourhood through a unique partnership involving the Ministry of Defence and the Greater London Authority (GLA).
This development will provide essential homes, employment opportunities, green spaces, and community facilities, setting a new standard for sustainable urban development in the capital.
The framework places a strong emphasis on young people, skills, and jobs, ensuring that local residents benefit directly from new opportunities. It includes the creation of an education and skills hub, which will strengthen pathways from education to employment, particularly in sectors linked to Heathrow, such as food innovation, film, TV, and logistics. Additionally, the framework aims to enhance leisure and sports amenities, making them more accessible and fit for purpose.
Another significant aspect of the plan is to create a greener, more connected, and culturally vibrant Feltham. This involves enhancing parks and open spaces, investing in community and cultural assets, and reimagining the Longford River as a green corridor to improve biodiversity and accessibility. Progress in Feltham is already evident, with over 1,500 homes delivered or in the pipeline, advancements at Hanworth Park House, and new community assets like the Eco Cabin and Freddie Mercury Memorial Garden. The new Feltham Community Hub and Library, along with the Council’s Lifelong Learning division, are working in partnership with the University of West London to offer tailored courses for residents.
Councillor Shantanu Rajawat, leader of Hounslow Council, said; “Feltham is a town with strong communities and huge potential, and this Framework sets out our ambition to take the next steps. It builds on the progress we’ve made in delivering new homes, community assets, and public spaces. It gives us a clear roadmap for new major sites and future investment.”
Deputy leader Cllr Tom Bruce added; “Future Feltham shows how regeneration can be ambitious, inclusive, and rooted in place. This Framework brings together housing, skills, and green infrastructure in a way that will genuinely improve everyday life for residents.”
