Images of the new Didcot home of two Oxfordshire councils have been made public.

The proposed four-storey building, at the Didcot Gateway site close to the station, will provide offices for staff of South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse district councils and the building will include flexible space for commercial rent and public areas such as a café and landscaped gardens.

The design is themed on the town’s railway heritage and it will feature a living wall of climbing plants.

South Oxfordshire will submit a planning application imminently.

Later Homes England will develop a larger section of the Gateway site for housing.

Cllr Andrea Powell, cabinet member responsible for the new building project at SODC, said: “We’re very pleased to share the latest plans for our new building in Didcot as part of our aim to help revitalise the town centre and bring our vision for Didcot Gateway to life.

“This is an exciting move for us both economically and environmentally, not only to help us achieve our sustainability targets but also reduce our energy usage and ongoing costs for our council taxpayers.”
