There remains no indication of the impact of last Thursday’s fire at One Station Hill in Reading.

One person had to be rescued and two people were taken to hospital as a result of the dramatic blaze, the second at the Lincoln MGT’s Station Hill development in five months.

The July 7 fire at the Ebb & Flow Build-to-Rent scheme on the southern section of the site didn’t cause any delay. However, last week’s fire is still being investigated by main contractor Sir Robert McAlpine.

There appears little indication of the impact from ground level although some damage can be seen at the rear of the building (see images above and below).

A Sir Robert McAlpine spokesperson said: “We are immensely proud of those on site whose actions helped ensure a safe evacuation. Our site safety procedures and training for dealing with an incident of this nature worked and everyone is safe.

“We are getting in touch with all those affected and are offering support from wellbeing professionals. Fortunately, incidents of this nature are extremely rare. The site has been safely secured and a thorough investigation is under way, meaning at this stage we are unable to comment further.”
