DWD has submitted a masterplan application to Chelmsford City Council for Chelmsford Garden Community.
The scheme, outlined in Chelmsford’s Local Plan until 2036, the community as a whole is set to bring around 10,000 new homes and include new employment opportunities in the form of around 45,000 sq m of employment space.
The masterplan outlines 5,500 homes, which when combined with developments at nearby Beaulieu and Channels will bring the community to around the 10,000-home mark.
As well as new homes, the community will also include a new country park, walking and cycling routes, a second new secondary school two new primary schools, a nursery, as well as improvements to surrounding infrastructure.
The project is a joint project between Countryside L&Q, Ptarmigan Land, Halley Developments and Greycoat Real Estate.
The second round of public consultations for the scheme is already underway, with the Council asking for local inputs on the masterplan. Responses to the consultation can be made via the Council’s website or via post.
A public exhibition is also being held on May 31 at Beaulieu Community Centre, with a virtual exhibition also being available.
The public consultation ends on June 21 2022.
