Plans to expand the offices of property consultancy Dalcour Maclaren have been unanimously approved by Cherwell District Council’s planning committee.

The firm, along with landowner Charlie Lane Fox, had applied to demolish existing farm buildings for the 1,300 sq m development at Bignell Park Barns, Chesterton near Bicester.

Oxfordshire County Council’s highways department had objected to the plans, saying the access junction has too little visibility and the scheme had insufficient public transport links.

However, officers at Cherwell told the November 4 meeting the scheme would benefit from new bus services planned for the Great Wolf development nearby. Cherwell District Council was also satisfied that the access junction had good visibility which already serves the existing Dalcour Maclaren operation at the site.

The H-shaped single-storey offices will have solar panels on the roof and will be almost energy self sufficient.

The team on the project included Oxford & Country Planning and Anderson Orr Architects.
