Plans have been submitted for 57 homes in the centre of Henley.
The Green Regeneration Company has submitted plans to redevelop the site of an industrial building currently used by plumbing equipment manufacturer Stuart Turner, along with some neighbouring buildings, into its Empstead Works scheme.
Much of the 1.25-hectare, irregularly-shaped site, which sits between Market Place and Greys Road, next to the Greys Road car park, is due to be vacated when Stuart Turner moves to an out-of-town location. It has four vehicular access points.
The applicant’s plans submitted to South Oxfordshire District Council comprise 46 two, three and four-bedroom family terraced houses and 11 two-bedroom maisonettes. A total 11 per cent of the homes will be affordable.
There will be a central green square, play area, landscaped pedestrian routes, green corridors including 36 new trees and community growing areas.
The scheme’s design and access statement states: “The proposed development delivers a range of social, environmental, and urban design benefits, carefully responding to the context and needs of Henley-on-Thames.”
The team on the project includes Assael on design, Reichmann Properties on planning and i-Transport and transport planning.
