Beaulieu Homes has applied to build 124 properties at Lodge Farm, Holyport.

The developer, using Bell Cornwell as planning consultant, has submitted a hybrid application to the Royal Borough for outline permission for the homes (40 per cent of them affordable) along with change of use of agricultural land to community park, open space, two grass football pitches, allotments, a community building and ancillary landscaping and parking.

A previous application for 150 homes was dismissed on appeal after non-determination by the council.

The 20.63-hectare site runs close to the M4 and falls within the Green Belt but the application argues the scheme meets the requirement for ‘very special circumstances’.

It lists eight circumstances including the lack of an up-to-date Local Plan and therefore insufficient delivery of housing.
