Planning permission has been granted for up to 80 homes in Cambridge.

The site, Digital Park on Station Road in Longstanton, was once a ‘reserve’ area for the Northstowe development.

However, in a recently adopted South Cambridgeshire Local Plan it is part of the allocated new town land for 10,000 homes in total.

The 1.45-ha development will provide up to 80 dwellings, with at least 40 per cent affordable housing.

The proposals will include a mix of housing types and sizes, up to a maximum of 3 storey town house and 4 storey apartments, to reflect the street scene of the new development further south along Station Road.

The application was previously submitted in 2019 for 106 homes and was originally due for determination in May 2021.

However, this decision had been extended multiple times due to additional committee dates and unresolved s106 negotiations which have led to a reduction in the number of homes.

The site is near phase 3b of the Northstowe scheme, which gained planning approval for 1,000 homes, a primary school, a small mixed -use zone and accessible green space across a 47-ha area.

The statement added that the 80-home scheme will have independent access but will be designed to be “full compatible” with Northstowe Phase 3b.
