The Pizza Hut at Reading Gate Retail Park has closed barely two months after it reopened.

The restaurant, which had been at the retail park since it was built in the late 1990s, closed in 2021 and was replaced by Itsu. But Itsu closed in March after franchisee Heart with Smart went into administration.

Pizza Hut then returned to the unit and celebrated its opening on August 18. But after its UK franchisee DC London Pie went into administration on October 20, 132 Pizza Huts were closed although 64 of those were rescued by Pizza Hut itself and will continue to operate.

Reading Gate is among the 68 which were not rescued. Pizza Hut said it would not comment on individual stores.

A sign on the restaurant states administrator FTI Consulting will be handling all affairs.
