Councillors have agreed to redevelop Goldsworth Road Industrial Estate in Woking.
After a prolonged discussion over how to monitor restrictions on delivery times to the site, Woking Borough Council’s planning committee passed its own plans to replace the current 1960s buildings with 12 modern energy-efficient units.
Councillors at the February 22 meeting settled on adding an advisory note to the permission that the applicant (the council) should install CCTV to monitor vehicle movements and also to add acoustic mitigation.
The initial scheme was rejected by the council last September because the mix of units lacked the flexibility to re-accommodate the several motor repair operators on the site. Measures to change the mix of use classes resolved those issues.
