Plans for 24,000 sq m of flexible R&D space have been approved by Cambridge City Council.
Columbia Threadneedle Real Estate’s hybrid application to redevelop The Paddocks in Cambridge into a med-tech scheme was approved at the council’s planning committee meeting on July 23.
The brownfield site is close to Addenbrooke’s Hospital and Cambridge railway station. Columbia Threadneedle is targeting BREEAM Excellent.
James Coke, executive director and fund manager, UK, for Columbia Threadneedle Real Estate, said: “Our innovative plans for The Paddocks will provide much-needed adaptable med-tech space and are the result of extensive engagement with the local authority, schools, stakeholders and the wider community.
“We are delighted that the application was approved by Cambridge City Council’s planning committee, with members being especially supportive of increased amenities onsite to promote healthy living.”
The team on the project includes Berwick Hill Properties, Perkins+Will, Quod, Kanda Consulting, Pollyanna Wilkinson Garden Design (Aspect Landscaping) SLR and Hollis.
