A young Cambridge planner has won recognition from the Royal Town Planning Institute’s (RTPI).
Errin Marshall, senior planner for Savills, has been named RTPI Young Planner of the Year for the East of England. She was given the award at the RTPI East of England Awards for Planning Excellence ceremony at The Graduate in Cambridge.
Each year, the RTPI recognises planning excellence, showcasing and celebrating the best plans, projects and people in the industry.
The Young Planner of the Year award is given to an individual who is in the early stages of their career and demonstrates enthusiasm alongside significant achievements.
Errin joined Savills Cambridge in 2020 as a graduate and gained her chartership in 2023 following a master’s degree apprenticeship.
She is actively involved with the RPTI and as well as chairing the East of England Young Planners Committee in 2024 and has been part of the group’s regional activities committee since 2021.
Last year Errin planned and hosted the National Young Planners Conference in Cambridge, which was attended by 250 delegates over two days.
She has also secured a number of large permissions for clients across sectors including residential, rural and healthcare.
In making their decision the judges reported: “Errin’s impressive entry highlighted her active role within the planning community, showcasing her innovative ideas and strong communication skills.
“The judges were particularly impressed by Errin’s mentorship activities, her dedicated involvement with the RTPI, and her commitment to fostering collaboration among emerging planners.
“Errin’s contributions reflect her dedication to advancing the field of planning, and she continues to inspire others in the region through her work and mentorship.
“We look forward to seeing her further contributions to the planning community and are excited about her future endeavours.”
Errin said: “It was incredible to be shortlisted in the first instance, but winning was beyond special. There was tough competition, and I feel very honoured.
“The East of England RTPI is incredibly supportive of all its young planners and gives us a platform to learn, engage with our peers and grow as individuals.
“A big thank you to them and to everyone at Savills who has been so supportive throughout the first five years of my career.”
Andy Moffat, who leads the planning team for Savills in the East of England, congratulated Errin on her achievement.
He said: “This award is extremely well deserved. Errin has been a valuable member to our team, consistently delivering reliable and trusted advice to clients and colleagues alike.”
