Environmental, social and governance (ESG) is the major theme of a property industry Autumn seminar – Responding to the ESG Agenda – to be held in Reading on Monday, October 11.

The event, at the SCL (formerly Madejski) Stadium, will use case studies to explore the evolution of the ESG agenda, as well as considering practical examples of ESG.

Savills has brought together a panel of industry-leading experts to lead the discussion:

Sir David Clementi – chairman of the King’s Cross Central Partnership
Darren Browne – commercial director, University of Reading
Lucian Cook – head of residential research, Savills

Phil Brown, head of Savills Reading, said: “ESG is becoming a driving force in real estate investment and approaches to it are developing at pace.

“Our Autumn seminar will look at how it has been put into practice at King’s Cross, London and how the University of Reading is responding to it through its plans for the expansion of the Thames Valley Science Park.

“We will also consider the market drivers for ESG and Lucian Cook (head of Savills UK residential research) will provide a general property market update.”

He added: “The agenda is discussion-focused, allowing plenty of opportunity for attendees to engage. The event will also be a chance for guests to network, which many of us have missed over the last 18 months.”

Mr Cook said: “ESG is a high priority for occupiers, developers, lenders and pension funds. There is a need for lenders, funders and developers to understand occupiers’ sustainability values and goals, so that they can themselves develop their own ESG strategies.”

The October 11 event will run from 4pm to 7:30pm and will operate in accordance with Government guidance on Covid to support a safe and comfortable environment.

Guests will be given the option of attending in person or registering to attend virtually via webinar.
