Construction is under way on a solar farm at Patrizia’s Westcott Venture Park, designed to supply more energy than the park consumes.

The 14,794 panel-scheme will cover 35.4 acres within the 650-acre business park and is projected to generate 10,700 MWh of energy annually for occupiers.

The development is being project-managed by Mordey Property Consulting and Syzygy, with Absolute Solar and Wind serving as the principal contractors. CX Utilities is responsible for ensuring the project meets safety and efficiency standards.

The surplus of electricity produced will be exported, via a new cable connection, to the local power network at nearby Waddesdon primary substation.

The work is an extension of a small solar farm, started at Westcott in 2011. The new farm will increase the capacity of the original by more six times and is expected to be completed by Q1 2026.

Archie Stroyan, associate for Patrizia, said: “Our commitment to an environmentally sustainable business park is unwavering. This solar project is at the forefront of our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint.

“By generating more power than is required by our tenants, we are not only supporting over 90 companies based at Westcott but also setting a benchmark for sustainable development.”
