Discount supermarket Lidl has submitted plans for a store in Great Dunmow, Essex.
The value retailer has applied to Uttlesford District Council for permission for a 2,169 sq m store on a 1.52-hectare site called Foxton’s Yard, to the south of the B1256 Stortford Road.
The site, around a mile and a half outside Dunmow town centre, is currently occupied by a Dunmow Fencing Supplies unit and plus its storage and hardstanding area.
Thew new scheme will have 119 parking spaces.
Among a handful of comments, both from objectors and supporters, is one from Tesco, which has a store half a mile away.
Tesco objects on the grounds of what it claims is a lack of regard for the Neighbourhood Plan, the effect on Dunmow town centre and harm to heritage assets including the Grade II listed gatehouse to Easton Lodge.
The team on the project includes Rapleys on planning, Cora IHT on transport and RSK which provided the air quality report.
