Plans for a Tesla car showroom and dealership on a Bar Hill business park have been submitted to South Cambridgeshire District Council.
The electric car manufacturer hopes to open a showroom and service areas following the demolition of Bridge House in Saxon Way.
The plans include 99 car parking spaces, 12 ‘supercharging’ spaces and 60 cycle spaces.
The applicant, Legal and General (Pension Management) Ltd, planning documents say: “The proposal presents a unique opportunity for Tesla to better serve the Cambridge market given the current lack of available sites within the Cambridge automotive market and the high demand in the area.
“Tesla service centres provide the opportunity to buy, service and charge electric vehicles and supercharging points.
“Such centres promote and facilitate the transition towards zero-emission vehicles and clearly align with government targets on improvements to air quality and climate change mitigation.”
The submitted plans follow a public consultation that was held in January.
