Richmond councillors have given unanimous support for a proposal to redevelop Twickenham Film Studios (TFS).

The authority’s planning committee approved the development of the St Margaret’s site, at the planning meeting of the October 27.

 The scheme involves:

  • A new block at the front corner of the site, together with the partial demolition of another and an extension built
  • An additional storey and external stair access to an adjoining block
  • An additional storey on another block
  • Refurbishment and modernisation of all existing blocks

The proposals would increase the useable floor area and rationalise the existing space to increase efficiency.

The expansion of the world-renowned film studios will create jobs for residents through a local employment agreement, help attract investment from television and film production companies, increase capacity and provide a café and work-spaces the public can use.

Cllr Martin Ellengorn said the scheme ‘ticks every box’ on a site which is part of the town’s heritage.
