Worcester-based Mercian Developments is planning a 128-unit care home on land at Bodicote in Oxfordshire.
The developer has applied to Cherwell District Council for full planning permission to build on a vacant 0.97-hectare site between Longford Park Road and Canal Lane, part of the 1,070-home Longford Park redevelopment first approved in 2009.
The developer plans to combine two existing care homes, the 40-bed Julie Richardson Nursing Home in Banbury and the 59-bed Banbury Heights into the new scheme. The developer states in its planning documents it wants to offer a higher standard of care which refurbishments of the old buildings could not achieve.
The team on the project includes KWL as architect, Zebra Landscapes and Barton Willmore, now Stantec, as planning consultant.
