August 2020 officially marks the start of Inholm, the new ‘urban village’ being created by House by Urban Splash using the latest modern methods of construction.
This new award-winning neighbourhood within the new town of Northstowe will comprise 406 new homes offering a variety of choice including Town House, where customers can configure the internal layouts to create their own space before being precision-built in the company’s factory, fitted with bathrooms and kitchens and delivered and assembled in just a few days.
Mark Shirburne-Davies, Director for House by Urban Splash says: “We’re excited to be starting on site officially today. After 27 years of successful developments in other areas of the country, this is our first development in the South and the East of England and we have big plans ahead.”
“The neighbourhood is already receiving recognition having won a prestigious Housing Design Award in 2020 which recognised our modern approach to construction and bringing architect-designed homes and apartments to Cambridgeshire.”
“We’re creating a modern, well-designed new neighbourhood that builds on the history and surroundings of Northstowe. There’s access to open countryside and special little touches like ‘pocket parks’ that you will find when walking around which will make it a truly special place to live, work and play.”
Northstowe is a new town being created five miles from Cambridge centre with sustainable transport links to Cambridge, including a guided busway which will route through the Inholm community. The new town centre will host a range of amenities and already has a brand new school campus within a few short steps offering primary through to sixth form education.
South Cambridgeshire District Council’s Lead Cabinet Member for Planning, Cllr Dr. Tumi Hawkins, said: “Our congratulations to everyone involved in this ambitious, now award-winning scheme. We’re proud to have played our part in this high-quality design through the planning process and pre-application discussions. We’re pleased to have helped ensure the local community were able to feed into the design work too. This new neighbourhood will be a key part of the growing new town of Northstowe, helping make it a great place to live, work and play.”
House by Urban Splash a company backed by award-winning regeneration company Urban Splash, in partnership with Japanese-based Sekisui House the largest and most sustainable housebuilder in the world, and the UK government’s housing accelerator, Homes England. Together they are helping set the standard in delivering better quality homes and neighbourhoods across the country.
Mike Goulding, Project Director for Homes England said: “These are the first homes being built on Homes England’s land at Northstowe and it is really important that we work with our partners to ensure that the homes offer both great quality and design. We also want to encourage innovation in the construction industry and this scheme delivers both.”
Modern methods construction (MMC) produce significantly less waste, fewer carbon emissions from site traffic and are cleaner and more efficient than traditionally constructed homes.
The company will soon launch its unique sales Pavilion, the first building to complete at Inholm. It will open this autumn 2020 when sales of the first homes hit the market.
