Amazon Fresh has opened one of its first UK stores in London’s newest creative neighbourhood, Wembley Park.

The 2,500 sq ft Amazon Fresh Wembley Park store is powered by ‘Just Walk Out’ technology, allowing entry by means of an app but having no checkouts. 

The store is part of Quintain’s multi-billion pound transformation of Wembley Park with a new London Designer Outlet which includes other technical initiatives including UK’s first click-and-reserve service for shops.

Matt Slade, retail director of Quintain, said: “At Wembley Park and London Designer Outlet, we are proud to have secured a track-record of firsts and accomplishments: the largest boxpark to date, the UK’s first Champion outlet, the first stand-alone Converse store, NICCE’s first stand-alone store, the single largest residential Build-to-Rent site in the UK.

“And now Amazon Fresh can be added to that list. Wembley Park is not only among the largest and most all-embracing urban transformations currently under way in Europe, it’s also one that combines innovation, enterprise and leading brands to become an exceptional place to live, work and visit.”

Wembley Park is an 85-acre mixed use development that will feature over 500,000 sq ft of retail and leisure. As well as London Designer Outlet and Boxpark Wembley, attractions include Wembley Park Market with its entrepreneurial merchants and makers, the iconic SSE Arena, Wembley, also owned by Quintain, and the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre, the first new theatre to open in Brent in 40 years.

Projected to attract over 20 million visitors a year, Wembley Park is expected to benefit from £328 million annual retail spend by 2027, putting it ahead of London districts such as Camden and Victoria.

By then, the scheme will be home to 20,000 full-time residents across all demographics from families with children, students, single occupancy flatshares to downsizers and more. In addition, it is anticipated to have a working population more than 8,000 including Brent Civic Centre, corporate offices and work spaces.

For residents and workers, the vision is to create a 15-minute neighbourhood with everything they might want within a short walk.
