Plans for 267 student rooms in a 10-storey block have been submitted to Guildford Borough Council, the latest in a long line of proposals to develop a nightclub site.

Star Oyster has applied to redevelop the Casino nightclub at The Quadrant in Onslow Street for the building which would have two basement levels where uses could include retail, financial and professional services, restaurant/cafe, bar, office, nightclub, casino and D2 leisure which covers cinema, concert hall, and bingo hall.

The application comes quickly after a previous plan for a 14-storey building which went to appeal over non-determination, only to be withdrawn during the appeal process.

Previous proposals date back to 2002.

The team behind the current scheme includes: Architects, PRC; planning consultants, Peter Pendleton Associates; student viability assessors, Henry Boot with visual impact consultancy from RPS.
