Plans by Wokingham Borough Council for 130 homes and a 70-bed dementia care home go before the authority’s own planning committee on May 11 with a recommendation for approval.

The council wants to develop the 7.7-hectare site, next to the Toutley Depot, for energy efficient homes which have solar panels, air source heat pumps and high levels of insulation. The scheme will be accessed from Twyford Road.

Of the 130 properties in the scheme, which is known as Toutley East, there will be a 35 per cent affordable allocation.

The site had been identified for employment use in the Local Plan but a change to residential was made in the Local Plan update of 2020.
